English New Course Proposal
Complete this form, which will be submitted to the UPC, in as much detail as possible. Our variable topics course now include ENGL 100, 150, 200, 210, 211, 213, 214, 215, 230, 371, 381, 382, 383, 384, 411, 412, 414, 416, 417, 419, 423, 465, and 475.  If you have a draft syllabus, please send that to Suzanne Hagedorn, UPC chair at <schage@wm.edu>.

Please remember that all English classes that will carry a COLL attribute need to be separately approved  by EPC. Once your class is approved by the department’s UPC, you need to submit it for COLL approval through Curriculog at https://wm.curriculog.com. Have you offered this course before? If so, how many times and when?  (A specific topic in a topics course, excepting COLL 100 and COLL 150 courses,  may be offered three times without EPC approval; after that, the topic should be approved by the EPC and the course should have its own entry in the catalog.)

Provide a more detailed description of the proposed course.

Describe the writing assignments you will be including in the course, indicating their type and length.  (Keep in mind specific requirements for writing assignments in courses like 150 and 475;  COLL 150 courses must include at least 24 pages of writing; .)

If you are proposing a 475, how do you intend the course to fulfill the COLL 400 requirement to teach students to communicate effectively with a diverse variety of audiences?
